Placeholder Image Generator
Free online placeholder generator: set width, height, background, text and text colour to get a vector SVG that is only a few hundred bytes — download it or copy the source.
How to Use
- Set size and colours
Enter width and height, pick background and text colours; 'Common sizes' cycles through social, square and ad-slot presets.
- Add text
Type the placeholder label; leaving it blank shows 'width × height' with auto-fitted font size.
- Download or copy
Click 'Download SVG' to save the file, or 'Copy SVG source' to paste it straight into HTML.
FAQ
Why SVG instead of PNG?
SVG is vector: a few hundred bytes at any size, crisp when scaled, and the text stays selectable. Take a screenshot or use a converter if you need a bitmap.
Will long text overflow?
No. The font size is derived from image width and text length, so longer text simply renders smaller to fit.
How do I use it in a page?
Drop the downloaded .svg into your project and reference it with an img tag or CSS background-image, or inline the SVG source directly in HTML.
Any size limits?
Width and height each accept 1–10000 pixels. In practice stay under 4000; the browser preview scales larger sizes down.
