Base Converter
Free online base converter between binary, octal, decimal, hex and base 36. Accepts 0x / 0b / 0o prefixes and uses BigInt, so huge integers keep full precision.
How to Use
- Enter the value
Type the number, optionally with a 0x / 0b / 0o prefix; spaces and underscores are allowed.
- Pick the source base
Select base 2, 8, 10, 16 or 36 to match the input; results update live.
- Copy the results
The panel lists all five bases plus the bit length; copy the whole block with one click.
FAQ
Does it handle huge integers?
Yes. It computes with BigInt, so numbers thousands of digits long convert exactly — unlike parseInt, which loses precision beyond 2^53.
Are 0x prefixes detected?
Yes. With base 16 selected, 0xff is accepted; likewise 0b for binary and 0o for octal.
What about decimals?
This version handles integers only. For fractional bases, split off the fraction and convert it separately (e.g. multiply-by-2 take-integer).
What is base 36 good for?
Base 36 uses 0-9 plus a-z and is the shortest common representation, so it is popular for short links and compact IDs.
