Text Reverser

Reverse all characters, the word order, the line order, or characters within each line — switch modes in real time.

How to Use

  1. Paste the text

Drop it in on the left and switch between the four modes; the right pane updates live.

  2. Choose a mode

All characters for mirroring and tests, word order to inspect sentence structure, line order to read a document upwards, characters within each line to keep the line breaks.

  3. Check the counts

The stats line reports characters, words and lines so you can confirm the scale before and after.

FAQ

Why does reversing all characters collapse the text onto one line?

Because line breaks take part in the reversal. The first line ends up last and the breaks gather together. If you want the line structure kept, use the characters-within-each-line mode.

Is word order reversal useful for Chinese?

Only in a limited way. Chinese has no spaces between words, so a run of non-whitespace characters counts as one word and the whole sentence reverses as a single token. For Chinese, reversing characters within each line is the more useful operation.

Can this be used to hide information?

No. Reversing all characters is perfectly invertible — reverse it twice and you get the original back. It provides no concealment at all; use an encoding or encryption tool for that.

Does reversal break Chinese word order?

Yes. Chinese encodes grammar in the order of characters, so a reversed sentence is unreadable. English is no different (fox brown quick The is not English), so the tool's legitimate uses are layout and testing rather than rewriting.
